<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">With the entries in the replacement table, you can specify a certain letter combination to be replaced by another.</help:help-text> For example, you can enter words that you often misspell so that they will be automatically corrected.</p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:key-word value="text; replacing with format" tag="kw65876_8" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"/>AutoCorrect can remember character formatting. To always have a specific text appear in a specific font, format the text in the desired font, select the text, and call up the AutoCorrect dialog. Do not select the <span class="T1">Text Only</span> field.</p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:switch select="Program" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><help:case select="WRITER"><help:key-word value="frames; AutoCorrect" tag="kw65876_7"/><help:key-word value="graphics; AutoCorrect" tag="kw65876_6"/><help:key-word value="graphics; inserting automatically" tag="kw65876_5"/><help:key-word value="AutoCorrect; graphics and frames" tag="kw65876_4"/>You are able to include Frames, Graphics and OLE objects which have been embedded into the text <span class="T1">as characters</span> in the AutoCorrect. Insert a frame into the text (Insert - Frame). Select the anchoring <span class="T1">As Character</span>. Select the text positioned in front of the frame, including the frame and after the frame. Now call up <span class="T1">Tools - AutoCorrect/AutoFormat</span>. On the <text:s text:c="" xmlns:text="http://openoffice.org/2000/text"/><span class="T1">Replacement</span> tab you will see the selected text already positioned in the <span class="T1">Replace by</span> field. Enter an abbreviation and close the dialog with OK. If at a later point you enter this abbreviation into the text and press the space bar the AutoCorrect function will replace the abbreviation with the replacement text including the frame / graphics / OLE object.</help:case></help:switch></p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:switch select="Program" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><help:case select="WRITER">In order for the replacement table to be applied when writing text, two conditions must be fulfilled: The <span class="T1">Use replacement table</span> needs to be activated on the <span class="T1">Options</span> tab under <span class="T1">Tools - AutoCorrect/AutoFormat</span>. And the <span class="T1">While Typing</span> needs to be selected under <span class="T1">Format - AutoFormat</span>.</help:case></help:switch></p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:key-word value="weekdays; automatically completing" tag="kw65876_3"/><help:key-word value="months; automatically completing" tag="kw65876_2"/>Words such as days of the week and months are completed automatically even if they are not in the completion table, such as days of the week and months. If you do not want to use this functionality, switch off <span class="T1">Complete words</span> in the <help:link Id="65777"><span class="T1">Word Completion</span></help:link> tab.</p>

<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">If this option is selected, the text in the field <span class="T1">Replace with</span> will be saved and applied without any specific formatting attributes. The new text will have the same format as the previous text. </help:help-text></p>

<p class="Paragraph">When the abbreviation exists, this button is called <span class="T1">Replace</span>. You can then redefine it.</p>
